History
Over a century ago, the Creek Indians lived and worked alongside the Okoni River which they called "The Great Water." Today, part of that river is known as Lake Oconee, and its natural beauty and serenity draw people to its bountiful shores.
Reverence for the natural beauty and undisturbed topography of the region was a key driver behind the vision of Cuscowilla. Nowhere is this more evident than through the craftsmanship of the Coore-Crenshaw design team. The world-renowned duo, known for their “minimalist” approach to golf course design brought Cuscowilla to life in 1997.
Today our residents also enjoy a host of other fantastic benefits and amenities that draw heavily on the undisturbed beauty of the community, including fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking along seven miles of unspoiled Lake Oconee shoreline.
